CITY OF LOS ANGELES TO CONDUCT EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
EARTHQUAKE EXERCISE ON JANUARY 17, 2007

City and Los Angeles Unified School District partnering to better prepare for earthquakes.

WHAT:	On January 17, 2007, at 8:30 a.m., the City of Los Angeles will host a press conference at the Northridge Fashion Center as part of its annual emergency preparedness exercise.
WHAT:	Arif Alikhan, Deputy Mayor, Homeland Security and Public Safety The Honorable Greig Smith, Councilman, District 12 William Bratton, Chief, Los Angeles Police Department Douglas Barry, Chief, Los Angeles Fire Department Ellis M. Stanley, General Manager, Emergency Preparedness Department Dr. Lucy Jones, United States Geological Survey Joseph Becker, National Vice President, American Red Cross
Other Departments available for comment: Los Angeles Departments of Animal Services, Building and Safety, Disability, Street Services, Transportation, and Water and Power.
WHY:	City of Los Angeles conducting annual emergency preparedness exercise which will include the set-up of a Unified Command Post at the Northridge Fashion Center, an all City employee Duck Cover and Hold Drill and a Duck Cover and Hold Drill in all Los Angeles Unified School District schools. This exercise will be held on thirteenth anniversary of the Northridge earthquake. Message: Personal Preparedness; "Be your own First Responder."
